A Farewell from the Isaac Navicare Team
As we prepare to close the doors of Isaac Navicare on 30 June 2026, we do so with immense pride, gratitude and hope for the future.
Since opening in November 2021, it has been our privilege to walk alongside the people and communities of the Isaac region. Together, we have navigated challenges, celebrated successes, shared stories, built connections and helped individuals find pathways towards improved mental health and wellbeing.
Over the life of the program, Isaac Navicare supported approximately 1,200 individuals to access mental health and wellbeing services. We helped bridge gaps between people and the supports they needed, often navigating complex systems and finding creative solutions to overcome barriers that can exist in rural and regional communities.
Sometimes our role was helping someone access a psychologist for the first time. Sometimes it was supporting a family through a difficult period, connecting a young person with local services, helping a worker navigate multiple systems, or simply providing information, encouragement and hope when it was needed most.
Throughout our journey, we have worked beyond individual support. We have contributed to stronger communities through mental health education, community events, stakeholder collaboration, workforce development and advocacy. We have shared information, built partnerships and helped strengthen pathways into care for people across Moranbah, Clermont, Sarina and surrounding communities.
Through our partnership with Queensland University of Technology and The Bridging Study, the experiences of our communities have also contributed to research that will help shape the future of mental health care navigation in rural and regional Australia. The voices of the Isaac region have informed research, sustainability planning and future service models, ensuring that the lessons learned here will continue to influence community mental health long into the future.
While the service may be ending, its legacy remains.
It remains in the stronger referral pathways established across the region, the increased awareness of mental health and wellbeing, the partnerships formed between organisations, the evidence generated through research and, most importantly, the lives of the people who found support when they needed it most.
We leave knowing that what has been achieved through Isaac Navicare has helped bridge gaps in mental health support for rural and regional communities. We are incredibly proud of the impact made and humbled by the trust that individuals, families and communities placed in us.
Rural mental health matters. The future lies in services that are flexible, locally informed and built around the needs of individuals and communities. Services that strengthen connection, reduce barriers and support people to access the right help at the right time.
Thank you for allowing us to be part of your story.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Isaac Navicare Team
