Mitsubishi Development and Japanese Consul-General Visit Navicare Hub in Moranbah

On July 31, 2025, Care Navigators Kelly McGrath and Keeley Ryan were pleased to host representatives from Mitsubishi Development and the Japanese consulate in Brisbane at Navicare’s Moranbah hub.

Mr Tadashi Mizuno (Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mitsubishi Development), Mr Kosuke Sakai (Senior Director and Head of CEO Office, Mitsubishi Development), Ms Melanie Edgar (Director Corporate Affairs Department, CEO Office, Mitsubishi Development), Mr Ishikawa Katsutoshi (Consul-General of Japan in Brisbane), and Mr Naoki Yanagida ( Consul of Japan in Brisbane, Political and Economic Affairs) visited Moranbah to learn more about metallurgical coal mining, to connect with Moranbah State High School and hear about their Japanese language program, and to visit key partnerships of Japanese businesses operating in the region, such as Mitsubishi Development’s Corporate Social Responsibility partnership with Wesley Research Institute to deliver the Navicare Program.

Kelly and Keeley took the guests on a tour of the facility. They explained the day-to-day service operations during the tour and in a short presentation that followed. Over lunch, Mr Mizuno, Mr Ishikawa, Mr Yanagida, Mr Sakai, and Ms Edgar had the opportunity to learn more about the comprehensive and holistic approach Isaac Navicare takes in supporting people to access mental health.

Kelly and Keeley also conveyed to the Mitsubishi Development team the immense positive impact that their generous funding has had on improving the mental health and wellbeing of the Isaac communities. Mitsubishi Development’s role as founding partner of Isaac Navicare has meant that in less than four years, almost one thousand individuals in rural and remote areas have been supported to access timely and affordable mental health support.

Mr Mizuno said he was pleased to see the tangible impact the Navicare Program is having on residents in the Isaac region.

Having the Navicare Program team connect people within the Isaac and Whitsunday regions to the right mental health supports at the right time is having a positive impact on the people living and working in the communities that host our BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) operation

“The expertise of Kelly, Keeley and Navicare’s other mental health care navigators in accessing their rich network of mental health professionals is enabling us to provide important mental health and wellbeing services to regional Queenslanders through our partnership with Wesley Research Institute,” he said.

Under the partnership, Mitsubishi Development’s $1.7 million in funding to Wesley Research Institute over five years for the development and delivery of the Navicare Program has underlined the company’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of people living and working in the Isaac region.
