Isaac Navicare Hub Opens in Sarina

The Sarina Isaac Navicare hub officially opened on May 19, 2025, following extensive community consultation about community mental health needs by QUT. Mackay Regional Council generously donated the use of a room in the Sarina Neighbourhood Centre free of charge. Care Navigator Liana currently staffs this hub one day per week. Here, she meets with clients and assists individuals to connect with mental health clinicians via Telehealth using Navicare’s Supported Telehealth facility.

Sarina Hub

Since opening the Navicare Hub in Sarina, we’ve had the opportunity to support many clients in the region. It’s been incredibly rewarding to work with individuals and families, and to be a consistent, face-to-face presence in the community. There’s a clear need for additional support in Sarina and surrounding suburbs, and I hope that by extending our service here, we’re helping to bridge that gap.
— Liana Irving, Mental Health Care Navigator

In the first six weeks of accepting referrals from Sarina providers, Navicare received 44 referrals for Sarina clients, accounting for almost one out of every seven referrals for the entire 2025 financial year. Although Sarina is close to Mackay which has a substantial number of mental health providers, transport options from Sarina are somewhat limited, and only a small number of services provide outreach into Sarina. As such, the opening of the Isaac Navicare hub has been a valuable mental health resource for this community.

Sarina Neighbourhood Centre is delighted to have Navicare in our space. Their presence brings warmth, expertise, and a genuine commitment to community well-being. From friendly, attentive staff to practical resources, Navicare enhances our ability to support local residents. Their collaborative approach aligns with our mission to foster connection, accessibility, and care for everyone in our community. It’s a proven, positive addition that enriches our programs and strengthens the sense of belonging we strive to create.
— Nikki Hughes, Sarina Neighbourhood Officer
