Youth Yoga & Mindfulness Series

Isaac Navicare utilised funds raised by the Clermont community in the 2024 In the Dark fundraiser to sponsor a youth yoga and mindfulness workshop series centred around mental health. Through the series, yoga instructor Lauren White from Maitiri Yoga Collective taught students how to notice their senses, quiet their thoughts, name and tame emotions, and how to cultivate self-compassion.

Students found the breathwork and relaxation components especially helpful, as tools they could apply to improve mental well-being at any time.

Yoga instructor Lauren White taught fourteen teenagers the art of yoga, mindfulness and breathwork to improve their mental health in a workshop sponsored by Isaac Navicare. Care Navigator Jade attended one of the sessions. She distributed Navicare flyers and resources that the teens took home. She chatted with the students about the services that Navicare offers and how they can find support if/when they need it.

After Yoga, my problems or worries are still there, but they seem further away.

Without Navicare’s sponsorship of this program, many of those teens would not have signed up. Having the workshop costs covered provided an increased accessibility to learn and practice yoga and I know many were grateful.
